We are the Light of Good

Background Picture: Evil in Good
Lady Justice
We are the Jan-Lu, the people who hold the light. Our people have physical strength that others do not. We can fly and do so instead of walk. We use our strength for the good of the many. We fight for the poor and the helpless. We make order where there is chaos.
Hero Society

Ours is a world where Good is that which gives us life. It replenishes our souls, it takes away all manner of hunger, and satisfies all our wants and needs. Our world is of peace, of sharing, and of equality. That which we cannot have, we do not want. That which is not good, we do without. That which disturbs Good, is dealt with Justice.
Our world is a beacon and a flicker of light in a dark room. We know evil surrounds us all and we know our world can be harsh. But without Justice there is no peace. We recognize, we understand, and we stand together.
Our world, one of men and women that stand above many in greatness... in strength... and in moral courage... was placed in this existence to right the wrongs. May God give us strength to stay the path of righteousness. May God light the way so we may help the weak. And may God grant us our reward in the next life for our sacrifices.

ENVIRONMENT

Our world is one of many inhabited by sentient beings in this universe. But ours is the rarest of them all evidenced by our peace. We have no murders, we have no violence, we have no evil for we deal with it swiftly. Our planet is like many others... temperate and livable. We have mountains and we have rivers. We have cities and we have farms. Our planet was carved by oceans and shaped by deserts, plains, forests, and jungles. But that is not our environment for it does not constrain us. We can fly high, dig very deep, move very fast... Our environment is shaped by that which we struggle with every day. The evil in our hearts and the immorality of our desires. It is sometimes hidden in our souls but mostly controlled with the help of our community. In numbers we find strength.

CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE
NORMS: For our people, Justice is our life. We fight evil where we find it as well as seek those that need our help, in our world and outside of it. We live in peace and we do not dare disrespect that idea in our world. We have dialogue and discussion when we disagree. Our capital city, RyKer, holds our most dear institution, our Justice House. To it we bring our problems. Within, we speak our minds and resolve our disagreements with the help of our leaders. The law is supreme and we all respect the finality of the decisions. We all live with this agreement for we are Jan-Lu.
We all live as equally as we can. We have shared responsibilities and we all depend on each other. Everyone is equal in the eyes of Justice. But there is one shared load that we all have that is more equal than others. That is our responsibility to our brethren outside our planet. We all help as required and we all deal Justice as needed.
VALUES: Greatest among what we hold dear is our Harmony. Our people's shared desire for order drives our society's rules on behavior. We strive every day to have the most peaceful day we can. We don't allow words of stress nor behavior that might bring disorder.
We also hold hard work in high regard. Those that sacrifice time with family and loved ones in order to keep peace throughout (outside of our planet) are those that will be rewarded with a special seat next to our God in the next life. Free of suffering yet a model for our people still.
WORLDVIEW: We have been given a special gift that we must use responsibly. “With great power comes great responsibility” is what our God has passed down to us. We are Jan-Lu. And it is up to us to keep light in this world and to spread that light where there is darkness. Those outside this planet are children who need to be watched over. Countless times in our past has their violence reached our lives before our God showed us our way.
Now we move from world to world keeping watch over our little brethren. As children we sometimes have to discipline for their own good. Our laws were handed to us by God and His word does not have limits. Children often rebel but reach calm once the law of God is shown to them. Those who resist often find the ultimate need to start the renewal of life. Such is God's path. Such is our burden.
SYMBOLS:
Justice is Final
Above our Justice Hall there is a gavel carved into the side which has become the symbol of our justice for it is final and it is without remorse. The crime has been committed and the judgment shall be swift.

God
Aside every courtroom is an empty throne. That is of our Lord and God where he sits silently watching over us. He brought peace to our people and we honor him by including him in all our decisions. May he guide us to our final peace.
Father Oak
Father Oak reminds us of our family duties. Through time and patience our family will grow as the oak. It is strong and provides much for us to live on.
Our Blood
Social responsibility is portrayed by a drop of blood, for that reminds us of the violence that was brought to us by those outside our world. We remember and it gives us strength to carry out those tasks that may be difficult.

CLASSIFICATIONS OF REALITY: Our society holds the obeyance and adherence to our laws as the basis of civility. Yet we know that it is not a matter of yes or no when it comes to judgment. A father or mother may punish a child according to the severity of the transgression. They know that if a vase is broken and the child clearly was responsible, they must ask why the vase was broken. Did the child bump into it with no intention of causing damage? Was the vase placed in a manner which might facilitate the damage? Was the child coerced into breaking the vase? There are many degrees of guilt or innocence. The child might be granted innocence but still be held responsible in some fashion.
In that manner, an adult may be judged. But the higher the guilt is found, the higher the court that must decide the punishment. The highest punishment judgment is left to our highest institutions. Guilt is easily found, but the severity of the punishment is not. It is left up to our highest leaders to impose the severest of punishment and for all our people to be aware.

STRUCTURE/SOCIAL ORGANIZATION

As may be surmised, our society revolves around Justice and its policing which we all share in its responsibility. We are taught as children how important it is to keep harmony within oneself and to also protect that of others for if it is missing from the life of our neighbors it impacts our families as well.
Our religion is important to us as well since most of our guiding principles were delivered by our God many years ago. Although we do not gather in large numbers to hear a person preach us the letter of our God, we know it by heart as our parents have been telling us since our birth how God made this life for us and how we may protect it.

Once a year we get together with our closest friends in great halls (this is not a family event) in order to detail what we have done in order to feast in the afterlife aside our God. We tell of the evil we vanquished in far away lands and those that we saved through the word of our God.
CULTURAL EMPHASIS

There is a gesture that we have and use often. We call it a “pass”. In ordinary life we come across situations where we are forced to make decisions that may impact our harmony. In these situations we bring “pass” to our lives and maintain our peace. When a stranger walks towards your pass, instead of forcing your right of way, it is best to let him or her pass in front of you. Your peace is noticed and harmony is not interrupted. This sometimes is shown in our laws by granting the accused leniency through pass. The accused is usually so shamed that they either become a missionary of Justice or volunteer for social work.
